La vita é piu bella in Lugano… Especially at Villa Sassa (Life is nicer in Lugano)

May 13, 2021 by Valentina Voos No Comments
That la vita é piu Bella in Italy, we all know… What many do not know is that just a few kilometers north of Lake Como, the language is still italian, the food is also delicious pasta… but… The country is no longer the same… It is now Switzerland or the Svizzera, as the italians say! Joining the Swiss confederation in 1803, Ticino was never really part of Italy although shared culture and food! But, fast forwarding to 2021,  the beauty of Switzerland is its diversity of cultures which co-exist with the same values despite the regional differences. So… why… Read more

The Chedi Andermatt

Feb 17, 2021 by Valentina Voos No Comments
Valentina here has left the kitchen for good… and in super style this time! Invited to go and discover the renewed Chedi hotel in Andermatt…. I felt I stopped sleeping a few days before the date, so excited I was to come and visit this iconic place… Famous for being one of the most exquisite hotels in Europe, the Chedi in Andermatt is much more than that… It is majestic… It is chique… it is sumptuous! As I write this article I receive an email with the most exciting news – the hotel has won for the third time consecutively… Read more

Valentina leaves the Kitchen… and goes to… the IGLOO…

Feb 7, 2021 by Valentina Voos No Comments
You read it right!!! I left my warm and cozy bed to go sleeping in a Ice box! It is crazy to read, it is crazy to think of, it is crazy to do…. but it was wonderful! The ideas was to go and celebrate my daughter’s 10th birthday… it would be her birthday party. This 2021, we are living restrictions and lockdowns, so the question was where could we go that we would feel safe? I did some research and found the Iglu Dorf. Situated on the top of Zermatt, overlooking the Matterhorn, the place looked perfect! I contacted… Read more

When I am back at my roots… My visit to the Tem When I am back at my roots…

My visit to the Temple of Yemanjá in Salvador da Bahia was an encounter rooted in identity. As a daughter of Yemanjá, I did not arrive as a guest — I arrived in a place that already belonged to me. The connection was immediate, grounded, and deeply present.

Yemanjá, the great Mother of the waters, is far more than a symbol in Brazilian culture. She is origin, protection, fertility, and care. In Brazil, her image was shaped by the encounter of African traditions with colonial history — often represented in white and blue, blending African spirituality with Catholic iconography as a way for enslaved peoples to preserve their faith. Yet beneath every statue and celebration lives her true nature: an African deity of immense power, rooted in Yoruba cosmology, mother of many Orixás, guardian of life and emotion.
Her presence runs through the veins of Brazilian culture — in the sea offerings of February 2nd, in songs, prayers, and the quiet respect people hold for the ocean. Yemanjá reminds Brazil of its African soul. She is proof that African spirituality did not just survive here — it shaped the country’s identity.
To stand in her temple, in Bahia — the heart of Afro-Brazilian resistance and memory — is to feel how deeply Africa lives in Brazil. Yemanjá is water, but she is also memory. She carries the stories of those who crossed the ocean in pain and transformed it into devotion, culture, and strength.
Leaving the temple, I felt held. Claimed. Reminded of who I am and where I come from. Being a daughter of Yemanjá is knowing that no matter where I go, the sea walks with me — guiding, cleansing, and calling me back home.

Odoyá, minha mãe.

Before I left on holidays, I had a moment of quiet Before I left on holidays, I had a moment of quiet elegance at the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique.

From the iconic lines of the Reverso to the depth of its heritage, every detail tells a story shaped by time, craftsmanship and refinement. Set within a warm Christmas atmosphere, this visit felt both intimate and inspiring.

Just the beginning — more stories and meaningful moments with @jaegerlecoultre to come in 2026. Stay tuned…

I just landed in Salvador, and the trip opened lik I just landed in Salvador, and the trip opened like a scene from a glamorous telenovela: at the Farol da Barra, a radiant @baianadofarol nearly stole my husband with a single ancestral glance — I laughed, held my ground, and applauded the drama.
😉
Between the sacred beauty of the Church of Senhor do Bonfim, the vibrant soul of Pelourinho, and the elegance of the Baianas, Salvador breathes history and power. As Brazil’s first capital, the city is faith, rhythm, and sophistication woven into every corner.
Salvador, I’ve arrived — and I arrived glowing.
