Situated in the most prestigious area of Lisbon – Avenida da Liberdade, the hotel Valverde is a stunning property which combines the local Portuguese culture with an international touch that often pleases guests but also locals.
To prove the point, I was taken there by a local friend for a Sunday brunch…
As I came out of the car, I was surprised by the entry of the hotel. I am not sure what I expected but I felt like in a New Yorker townhouse… with stairs leading to the spectacular main door…
The hotel decoration also surprised me… a perfect combination of modern and classic… confortable and trendy.
We were escorted to restaurant where the brunch takes place. Dark wooden furniture, loads of palm trees and flowers, the place was an oasis… a total invitation to sit, relax and let time pass by.
That is what we did…
The brunch is served a la carte with the option of a menu with a few choices… as I love to eat for breakfast and we had time to spare… that was our choice… a full brunch menu…
I started with yogourt granola and fruits… It was beautifully presented… as it should be… when you start eating with your eyes…
For the table it was brought a full set of breads, cheeses and salamis… we devoured everything… super yummy…
Further, I had eggs and salmon… Again, it was delicious…. I had been undecided between the eggs benedict or the eggs and salmon… no regret with my final choice…
As a main I choose the seafood risotto… Here, I don’t think it was my best choice… Risotto must be cooked al dente… unfortunately it was overcooked… sorry to say, it might have been the day… I had high expectations for it as Portugal is famous for its seafood… maybe next time…
For desert I had pancakes with honey… OMG… another great dish… beautiful and delicious… super instagramable picture… 🙂
In between I had a couple of glasses of champagne and cups of coffee… when we least realised, time had flown… we were there for few hours in perfect far niente mode…
The check, please… another great surprise… EUR 70,00 for the 3 of us…
When do I go back? Next time I am in Lisbon… for sure…
I think you should consider it too…
