The Swiss is a very low profile society… although a rich and prosperous country… the Swiss are averse to any kind of wealth ostentation.
Only in a country like that, any individual could and would have the opportunity to eat in a restaurant where the walls display the most prestigious paintings of the masters of the 20th century, such as Mirò, Matisse, Chagal, Picasso and Brasque.

The restaurant was founded in 1924 and very quickly became the place to go for artists and celebrities, such as Coco Chanel, Picasso, James Joyce and others. The family was formed of art lovers who supported and collected art from the artists of the time.
The restaurant’s cuisine was and still is of outstanding quality… typical Swiss German dishes are served in the finest porcelaine and silvery. The cuisine also serve classical French dishes but the most famous one is the sliced veal with cream sauce and Rosti. In german it is called ” Kalbfleisch geschnetzelt «Kronenhalle und Rösti”
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure to go back and despite of having gone there countless times, I always feel very special and honoured when I cross the door. It is not every day that we are fortunate to have the opportunity to have a meal staring at paintings such as the ones displayed at the restaurant. Some of those are just seen in major museums. It is just unbelievable and only possible in a city like Zurich… probably one of the safest cities in the world.
As pretty much every time I go there, I order the same dish… many would say I am boring, but I just love it so much that I cannot avoid. I ordered the sliced veal mentioned above.
I did not have desert this last time, but the speciality is the chocolate mousse with cream. Well, the Swiss are also the chocolate masters… so, I dont think I need to say much more…

This experience is an indulgemment in every sense… taste, touch, hearing, sight and smell…
It is a no brainer… if you only have time to have one meal in this town… that is exactly where you need to go…
