Beau Constantia – Cape Town
Cape Town is one my favorites cities in the world. The beauty of it rivals to Rio, San Francisco and Sydney. For many it out-stands the three of them.
I am kind of suspicious to confirm, but I assure you that it is somewhat indescribable.
The vibe is amazing and there is so much to do and see. I have written other posts about it and this time I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Beau Constantia.
As you may know, South Africa is known by its wine. The Cape region is surrounded by Vineyards and the quality of the wine is great. Cape Town has a whole neighborhood with amazing vineyards and restaurants… The Constantia area.
Beau Constantia overlooks the Constantia Valley, amazing the viewer with the patchwork of wine plants… the coloring and the landscape is breathtaking.
Beau… Beautiful as the french say… the simple word describes it all…
On the very top of it, exactly 15 years ago, the De Preez family bought the farm and started constructing a dream…
Today I had the chance to visit and experiment their dream which became one of the trendiest restaurants and wine tasting farms of Cape Town.
I went for lunch… The restaurant building is an modern open space of concrete and glass, divided in several floors so that the guests can enjoy the view and the light.
The restaurant – The chefs warehouse is AMAZING…
Open kitchen, we can see the team in full swing….
A full menu, for two, with a fixed price, in tapas style, allows you to taste and try the chef’s creations….
Here we go… started with bubbles… bubbles of the Constantia Valley… 100% chardonnay grapes… light and fresh…
Appetizer – Oysters or bread with Olives
First course – Trout
Second course – Risotto
Third course – Pork Belly
Fourth Course – Lamb
The portions are made to share, but as I unexpectedly went on my own, they were kind to make portions for me only…. still, at the end, I had to refuse desert…
I ate like a queen… The mixture of spices and ingredients made it all very savory but also fun… Coconut with Pork Belly.. who would have said??? and still delicious…
Indulgence… it is my word of the last few days….
When in Cape Town, go to Constantia and have a glorious day at Beau Constantia… but don’t forget to book in advance as they get super full! Understandably!
