Radisson Blu Badischer Hof Hotel – Baden Baden

One of the best hotels I ever stayed…

Ah, you now going to think… ok, Valentina, you say that about many places you have stayed… we follow you and know that…

Well, you are not wrong… I have been staying in amazing places recently so these strong statements can sometimes get repeated but I promise you I am not lying…

It was my father in law’s birthday the reason that took me to Baden Baden at the end of 2019… we wanted to make it special for him… we got it very right.

Baden Baden is a famous touristy city in Germany… famous for its baths… Baden Baden is also a popular destination over Christmas as it has one of the most beautiful Christmas markets of the region.

Choosing the hotel for such a special occasion, it was our most important task… we wanted all to be perfect, so where else to stay but in one of the most famous buildings of Baden Baden – The Badischer Hof.

Originally built to be a Capuchin monastery, the building became a luxurious hotel in 19th century. One of the very first of Europe.

The classic building remains intact with its large saloons, halls and thermal spa. All of it surrounded by a stunning luxurious garden with Black Forest trees.

More recently the Radisson Blu group added this hotel to its portfolio and invested in a full renovation where the rooms were made modern and comfortable but remained classic and chic.

The hotel assigned us an amazing suite in its highest floor where we had a beautiful view of the garden and the back forest… the room was super comfortable and I had difficulty lifting myself out of the bed soft sheets…

We had a busy schedule… to start… a Christmas market to visit… which less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel, which makes its location just perfect!

After the stroll we came back to the hotel to enjoy the thermal spa. A massive covered swimming pool is an invitation to far niente… The detail is that there is an external super heated swimming pool which leads to the perfect location overseeing the gardens and the back forest… I did not want to leave the place, so pleasant it was but we had booked an afternoon tea and guest were coming to meet us.

It is a hotel’s job to make its guests feel comfortable and welcome, but some hotels go an extra mile… this is the current case… The cherry on the cake was the service… which was absolutely perfect and outstanding…

Every member of staff we would meet, he or she would do anything to please us, answer our questions and help us.

I had requested a cheese cake for the afternoon tea as my father in law loves it… The hotel prepared the most amazing afternoon tea with several cakes and of course included the most delicious cheese cake. We were so overwhelmed with the hospitality and care that it is hard to put into words…

An example is that staff cared to remember the type of tea we liked or if we took milk or sugar which demonstrates attention to the guest… This attention is priceless and hard to be found in the most exquisite places I have been…

Pride is an important quality when doing a job… so the greatest memory of my stay at this hotel is that the staff takes pride in their job and I could have not felt more welcome.

Enjoy Baden Baden… but when at the Radisson Blu, take time at the peaceful and stylish Jockey bar… well accompanied by a Black Forest Gin and Tonic…
