Business Lunch 8 – At the Super Chique La Terrasse Restaurant – Beau Rivage Hotel – Geneva
The scenery is a post card…
Literally, it sounds cliché but it is the nude crude truth….
The Beau Rivage hotel is situated in front of the Lake Geneva facing directly at the Jeu d’Eau…
On a splendid hot day like the day I went for lunch, I doubt there is a more beautiful place to enjoy a meal and…. EAT WELL…
There are lunches and lunches… and this one was THE LUNCH…
What do I mean by THE LUNCH?
First let me tell you about the chef… Dominique Gauthier… for gourmand people like me… he does not need formal introductions…
He is the pilot of the renowned and awarded with 1 Michelin Star – Le Chat Botté Restaurant, which in my opinion is the finest French contemporary restaurant of Geneva.
The Chat Botté is also situated at the Beau Rivage Hotel but at the first floor on a more classical offering. La Terrasse is just above and for the first year the hotel, in conjunction with Dominique, decided to create a pop up restaurant at the terrasse where more sophisticated lunches could be served on a more informal and beach club type of offering with refreshing drinks and dishes to share. The restaurant will stay at the Terrasse until September.

When I say informal, I mean open space, great view, but still a super chique and sophisticated service with silver cutlery and porcelaine dishes.
In terms of the menu, it is sophisticated, varied and yummy…. I went for lunch with my husband in a kind of mid day date. As we both work 1000% it is often very hard that we have the time to lunch together, but it is summer after all and why not taking an extra 1/2 hour and enjoy ourselves….
Our mid day date was needed and very much appreciated.
As we read the menu, we quickly agreed that it was going to be hard to order. The starters part were so tempting that in the end we could not make up our minds and we ordered 3 of them… one for him, one for me and one to share… Classic us!
He went for the Octopus… I went for the Ceviche and we went for the Burratina…
WE LOVE Burrata cheese… so, that we could not, not have it…. although we are not creatures of habit, we have some habits… does that make sense?
A prudent couple would have stopped there… but we are not wise when it comes to food…. so, we ordered two main courses too..,
He went for the veal and I went for the chicken.
The Chicken was delicious but the veal was spectacular…. First the presentation of the plates were amazing… up to the standard of a Michelin star restaurant… beautiful, colorful, but contrarily to the contemporary cuisine which have small portions, the portions were rather big…
So, after 3 starters and 2 mains, I wondered if we would have appetite for desert…
Well, as my kids say, there is always space for desert… and we ordered fresh fruit with sorbets….
No regrets… the desert was fresh and refreshing to honour the superbe meal we had just had… hard, it was the thought that we needed to go back to our desks and work for the whole afternoon… well, I suppose that is life…
But, if it has been a while that you did not have a mid day date with your husband, partner or even habahaba… invite him or her to visit the La Terrasse and enjoy yourself… life is too short… and some joy and indulging is very much necessary…
Alternatively, if you would prefer a more family gathering the La Terrasse is offering on Sundays at Surf and Turf kind of brunch, with lobster and meat grills… I have not yet tried but I only heard good things about it… I will try to go before the end of the summer and I will post as part of my brunch series….
Happy Summer everybody!
