Sunday Brunch 12 – Belmont Grand Hotel Europe – St. Petersburg – Russia

18 years have passed for me to come back to the Grand Hotel Europe of St. Petersburg. Now part of the Belmont  hotel group… the hotel is just a jewel.

Founded in 1875, the Hotel has witnessed several important moments in Russian history, such the first world war, the Bolchevik war and the communist regime. Situated in a historical building near to the city’s greatest landmarks, the hotel has  always been a prestigious address when in St. Petersburg.

Situated at the hotel, the Restaurant L’Europe is the longest serving restaurant of Russia. Decorated in the decadent art deco style… the restaurant is an invitation to a journey into the extraordinary…

The brunch is served at the L’Europe and is just incredibly good… One may judge that hotel brunches are all the same…

I could not disagree more…

Maybe the food could someone be considered similar… but location, tradition and local heritage when well explored make all the difference.

At the Grand hotel Europe, all the attributes are well present… The location is unique. The stained glass windows, the dark wood and even the little suspended balcony attribute the place a tangible glamour…

The tradition is present in the quality of the service. The staff is present to satisfy the most demanding wishes and flutes of champagne circulate through the room in silver trays under white gloves…

The local heritage is translated into the food. Obviously international and standard food is served… but not only… the local cuisine is well represented along side of the best caviar, oysters, Russian salads…

A total feast…

My husband is a passionate lover of fresh seafood and I had never seen him so happy with the quality of the seafood served in this brunch… St Petersburg is at the sea… so, Lobster, Salmon, Prawns and Caviar were the stars of the buffet…

Needless to say, the whole service is done in the finest china and silvery… Did I not say earlier that is was extraordinary?

St Petersburg is a very glamorous city, surrounded by its magnificent palaces and museums… but no visit is complete without a visit to the Gran Hotel Europe…

If by any chance you happen to be in town on a Sunday… this brunch is the must visit place… you will not regret it…
