Afternoon tea 3 – The Buergenstock Resort – Lake Luzern

The lake of the 4 cantons is one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland…. as it says, it makes boarders with 4 cantons – Luzern, Nidwalden, Schwyz and Uri ….

On top of the lake facing lake Luzern and the Pilatus mountain is the Buergentock resort… a complex of several hotels with spas, swimming pools and even cinema…

The resort is not new, actually it was opened in 1873… famous celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn used to spend the summer therein, where she got married in 1954 and Sophie Lauren resided in a chalet within the resort for 7 years.

But the resort got recently renovated and reopened in the end of 2017, in the best of its glamour…. I took the opportunity to go to visit it….

Often first impressions can be misleading but not in this case…

We went by car… an alternative would have been to take the ferry from Luzern and then the funicular up the mountain … but as we were many and I was with the kids, I opted to go by car… next time I will take the funicular because the journey is supposed to be an attraction on its own.

As we came into the hotel I stop to take a breath… the lobby is unimaginable…

A glass wall overlooking the lake takes your breath away… literally…  even the most experienced travelers seem to have a shock when they walk into the hotel…

The Swiss mountains are beautiful… and that is beyond discussion, but the lake view with mountain in the background, is just indescribable… the hotel explored its location very well… it made sure the glass wall was large enough so that no once could miss it! It is just huge….

As I mentioned in the title we went there for tea… and I nearly forgot it….

Well… The tea… lets talk about the tea…

It is served in a room adjacent to the lobby… also facing the glass wall… so, as you sip you tea and delight yourself with pastries and mini sandwiches… you lose count of time observing the view… time has a different rhythm…

The tea is not hugely varied, and I had to order from a separate menu for my kids, as they would not really eat what was served but  when it comes to the quality of the products, it satisfies the most demanding guests… Oysters, salmon, parma ham and several mini pastries… all very refined and delicate…

It has been years that I dont eat a sweet souffle… I had to try… and I suggest you experiment it… it was just perfect… the texture… the taste…. mouth watering….

The place is so stunning that you feel like just staying there forever and ever… but there is so much to see…

After the tea we went around exploring the property… As you walk around every corner is just more stunning than the other…

If your are brave… step into the glass veranda… the eye sight is the limit…

If you ever wondered whether Paradise exists, I suggest you visit this resort and you will have no doubt, you found it.

xx Valentina
