Carpe Diem…
This is a latin expression that translates to “Seize the Day”… “Enjoy yourself and don’t worry about anything… concentrate on the moment”
That is what I did last week when I had the GREAT opportunity to visit and enjoy the Spa at the La Réserve Genève Hotel, Spa and Villas
This is one my favorite hotels of all…. I like every bit of it… but what I like most is its subtle sophistication….
Ah, don’t take me wrong, everything is extremely luxurious about it… but it is not ostentatious… even you have an elephant in the middle of the room… literally…
The hotel is not situated in the center of Geneva, but in one of its most prestigious neighbourhoods… on the board of the lake. The hotel has a great open space with a green external area which is absolutely fabulous to enjoy the summer. As the name suggests, it is inspired in an African game reserve and the decoration revolves around animals and flowers.
There are basically two ways to get to there… by car or by boat…
Not a simple boat… but an exquisite wooden Riva boat…. the dream boat!
Guests have this service available to come and go to the Hotel… and the journey is spectacular…. it cruises for about 25 minutes and the view of the Geneva shores from the boat is undescribable…
I was lucky… ( it was my first time by boat), the day was glorious…
Once arriving at the hotel I was taken to lunch at the SPA…. I did not know that the hotel SPA served meals within its premises… There are outstanding restaurants in the hotel and for a reason or another it did not occur to me that the SPA had also its own restaurant.
It made total sense. The menu was appropriate for the place and the dishes available were light and very tasty. Not a huge option… which is also appropriate as the purpose of the visit is often detox rather than intox.
My choices were cauliflower soup and grilled salmon as a main… Both great options… There are several options of fresh juice and in a sunny and bright day like that one, I chose a icy strawberry and banana smoothie…. Delicious.
After lunch… I had some time in the relaxation room prior to be fetched by the personal trainer for an exercise session…. I was glad I had had it light… a heavy meal would have killed me… Luca (the personal trainer) took me boxing, trampolining, wall balling… and of course stretching… The crossfit girl here was tired and sweaty at the end…but it was a lot of fun….
The SPA has a gym membership which is open to any external person to subscribe. The membership gives access to the Gym but also to the SPA area, including the Swimming pool….
I barely finished my training session and I was expected to go the massage room. I only had the chance to quickly rinse my sweaty body so that I could dive into the massage bed…
The massage was divine… 1 1/2 hours… the time of it was just right… Guess what happened??? I was so relaxed that I fell asleep… maybe I should not tell you this, but I know I fell asleep because I woke up with the sound of my own snore… Can you believe it??? I am still laughing about it…
Well… time flies when one is having fun…
After the massage I went to the hamman for a little while prior to taking a shower. The Spa has a large and modern vestiaire with all facilities, such as shampoos, conditioners, hair dryers and body cream. It also includes a sauna and a hamman. Just outside the vestiaire, there is a large internal swimming pool where the aquabiking classes also take place.
I have visited several spas around the world and each one of them is quite unique… however some are exquisite, such as this one. The La Reserve Hotel cannot be called a hotel… it is an Oasis in paradise…
It is where one wished one had the ability to pause time… because regardless of how well one seized the day… and I assure you I did… one still leaves wanting to come back…
