Lausanne Palace Hotel

A long weekend in Lausanne can be an amazing experience….

Less famous than other Swiss cities, Lausanne is a vibrant,  young and trendy city too.

A couple of facts to prove the point…

• It is a very important university city, host of famous EPFL. A large part of the city population is young and innovative.
• The world’s Olympic Capital – the city is also the seat of the magnificent Olympic museum.  More than 50 international sports organisations are present making the city multicultural and vibrant.

Until last weekend Lausanne was very unknown to me and it is clear that it is a hidden gem.

There is a plenty to do for a long weekend… Nice shopping, excellent restaurants, magnificent hotels… Not to mention the mandatory visit to the Olympic museum.

Our choice for the stay was the majestic Lausanne Palace Hotel.

When I say majestic, I mean it… Open in 1915, the hotel still transpires the glamour of the Belle Époque…

High ceilings, large corridors, magnificent staircases, ironwork and curlicue tracery… all elements are present for a time travel to one of the most glamorous eras of all.
Despite its conscious heritage preservation, the hotel is modern and luxurious. It has several restaurants, a Cuban bar where guests can enjoy delightful cigars and an outstanding spa with a modern and large gym.

The hotel was kind to upgrade us to a junior suite…As I walked into the suite, I was mesmerised by the view….

Another plus of the Lausanne Palace is its location. Situated in the Flon neighbourhood, the hotel has an AMAZING 180 degrees view of the Leman Lake…
The suite was gorgeous and extremely well decorated but the view took my breath away! I just could not have enough of it…. A perfect place for a glass of Champagne…
My husband reminded me that we had the whole place to explore and we decided to visit the Spa…

Impressive… Again the Belle Époque influence is present but with modern components, such as Jacuzzis, Hammans and a large swimming pool. I enjoyed the spa for a couple of hours in anticipation for dinner…

Dinner was a difficult choice… We love gastronomic meals but we also love Japanese restaurants. So, when you have Table D’Edgar and sushi Zen Palace under the same roof, it is impossible to chose… That night we were in a more informal vibe… a very personal info, we had had a fight earlier in the day… for no serious reason… so, sitting for a formal meal was not really the mood of the day… so we went for a reconciliation dinner…

The alcohol helped! The meal was delicious and intimate enough that we finished the night having a laugh…

Not a bad place to reconcile when you have a fight… Don’t you think??? 🙂

I had a great night of sleep… In a good mood, our Sunday morning breakfast looked promising! And it delivered… it is all well varied and delicious…

I LOVE hotel breakfasts and brunches… !!!! I love the cereals, breads, cheeses, eggs… The whole thing… Yummy!

Energized and refreshed, we still enjoyed ourselves at the Bar 1915 until it was time to check out and go back home….

What a great weekend we had….. One day we will look back and say, what a belle époque!
