Berlin weekend

I was there last weekend… walking peacefully through the beautiful streets of this magnificent Capital. Inspiring place when you think that only 70 years ago it was reduced to dust…

Then, an act of hate kills 12 people and it makes you wonder it could have been with you… I was in the Xmas market just a day before…

Enough about it… not even another word… I am not going to glorify and waste my precious time giving these terrorist what they want… Headlines…

I prefer to tell you about the beautiful places you can see, the beautiful parks and cafes you can visit…

We had a reason to be in Berlin this weekend, but that did not stop us to visit some exquisite places, which I will quickly resume below:

1. Shopping – KADEWE – The Kaufhaus des Westens – The biggest department store in Continental Europe… a Mecca of consumption… the food court is to die for… beautiful, chique and complete… you can find pretty much everything in there… http://www.kadewe.de/en
2. Kids – Lego Center at Postdamer Platz – If you have kids that is where you want to go.. I love Lego.. it is entertaining, it is intelligent and it is creative… A must place… https://www.legolanddiscoverycentre.de/berlin/en/
3. History – Everywhere – Berlin has an universe of things to see… When you think that this city had two complete opposite cultures ruling their lives not too long ago… it blows your mind away… The pieces of the wall, the Holocaust Memorial, the Brandenburg Gate, The Parliament building…. Check Point Charlie…. The Tiergarten… A few years ago I read a book about Berlin before the 2nd world war, the glamour of the 20’s… strolling down the streets of Berlin, I confess.. I can see that Berlin pulsing live today…
4. Glamour – The Adlon Hotel – Situated in front of the Brandenburg Gate… it is the synonym of sophistication and luxurious accommodation… If you go to Berlin for new year and can afford to pay for it… that is the place you want to be… in front of the Gate… it is just the best spot in town to see the fireworks. https://www.kempinski.com/en/berlin/hotel-adlon/
5. Brunch – The Ampelmann restaurant – simply the best place for it… I was so surprise by it that I decided to leave for last at the post. The place is just special.. the Ampelmann is a very special Berlin icon – it is the little man that show in the traffic lights… he is not a common man, but the Ampelmann… only who went to Berlin have seen him… well, the restaurant is charmful and very cosy… the brunch buffet is very varied and delicious… super recommended! In general, stroll through the city, breath its vibe… Berlin and the Berliners have a lot to offer to all of us. Enjoy!
