Wedding anniversary South Africa
It has been exciting days… For our 7 years we decided to do something very special and embarked on 3 days train journey from Pretoria to Durban… The experience was amazing and complete detox….
We flew from Europe to SA at the day before… As the train left at 10 in the morning we did not want to leave any space for a delay and stress… So as we had a full day free prior to the journey, we decided to go to sun city… Wow, the place is so big and so sumptous… Difficult to describe… My photos will say more than 1 million words…
As the tradition demands we had tea at the Palace… Deliciously divine….
After a some gambling at the Casino and a good night of sleep, here we went to the Rovos train station… First surprise… Total detox… No wifi and internet connection on the train… No TV… No phone call allowed in the common spaces….
I quickly thought, can I survive?!! Hahaha, as horrible as it seemed, must confess, it was great… Met some very nice people…had wonderful conversations… Drank too many Rhums and cokes and enjoyed my time with my husband…
The journey had a couple of stops, including two game drives and a visit to Ardmore… Do you remember my post about it??? Now I had the chance to visit where everything started…
Refresh your memory on:
Also, the train is a journey back to the 1920’s… Formal dresses and suit is required… I really felt in Agatha Christies books…
One of the most expected moments of the whole trip was to go on the safari…. The aim is to see as many of the 5 big African animals as you can…Lions, Hippos, Rhinos, Elephants and Leopards… We were very lucky in our first drive…. Managing to see 4 out of the 5… Cats are a bit more tricky to trace so we will have to come back to see the beautiful leopards…
The big five are special, but I must say that my heart beats fast when I see the black and white stripes… So gorgeous… So classy… Zebras
The journey finished but not our amazing trip…. Arriving in Durban, we continued the colonial pampering as we moved along to the Oyster box…. What is that place??? The best hotel I ever stayed in my whole life… The attention to detail is incredible and those who love curry, the curry buffet is a banquete… 12 different types… Guilty was also part of it…
After all this indulgence, life goes back to normal… Until the next trip….
xx Valentina
