Weekend in Milan
Charmful, sophisticated, glamourous…those are adjectives that could be used to describe Milan…
Milan is more than that… I don’t really find one word that can describe it… One of the four capitals of fashion, Milan inspires designers and designer lovers to dress up, to decorate and innovate… With this personality and character that only the italians have…
Italy has been influencing the planet for centuries and centuries… The Romans, The Renaissance, the fashion design… They must have something in the water… That make them so collectively creative… 🙂
There is a lot to do in Milan… The city is not huge but well divided in interesting neighbourhoods… For those who have not been to Milan, there are the obvious must sees such as The Duomo, the galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle and the Last Supper…but for those who have already been and wish to enjoy the sophistication of the city in a laid back way, a stroll around can be quite pleasant…
I love to walk around the quadrilatero della moda… It is the Via Montenapoleone shopping area… There are four streets to walk around… Via Montenapoleone, Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia… They are a show in itself… Full of high design shops, the vitrines seduce and inspire those around…
People often say to me… Why am I going to go there if I cannot afford to buy anything in any of those shops??? Well, my answer is… Because I still do not pay to see and admire…. In my opinion, not because we cannot afford, we cannot appreciate… The same applies to museums… I cannot afford a Van Gogh or a Picasso but I still go to admire them…
Milan is full of coffee shops where the milanese ( how you call people from Milan) drink expressos and have small sandwiches against the counter… My favourite one is Marchesi… It exists for more than 200 years… And it is also a must see… Try the croissant praline… To die for…

For a quick lunch, there are loads of options… Also, one of my favourites is the cafe Trussardi… Just next to the Scala…

Talking about the Scala, this is one of the most magical places in Milan… Maybe one of the most magical opera houses in the world… If you can get tickets and enjoy the place and the moment.. I am sure you will not forget it…

I often like to do what locals do and in Italy I always think of a good pizza… I strongly recommend the pizzaria La tradizionalle… Mama mia… Delicious… It is a big space, very well decorated… The service was impecable and friendly… And the food delicious… I recommend 1000 times…

For those who have been following, you noted that we love Sunday brunches… There are a few options in town… This time we chose the Armani hotel… The brunch is on top of the hotel at the bamboo restaurant… It is has a splendid view of town. The food is great and the risotto alla milanese unmissable….
